Vietnam’s coastal city of Da Nang has earned a spot among Asia’s top summer travel destinations after global travel guide Lonely Planet ranked it second on its latest list of the best places to visit during June, July, and August.
The recognition is expected to further strengthen Da Nang tourism as the city continues attracting millions of domestic and international travelers each year.
Da Nang Tourism Gains Global Recognition
Lonely Planet described Da Nang as an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts, highlighting its beaches, cultural attractions, and modern tourism infrastructure.
The travel guide praised popular coastal areas such as My Khe and Non Nuoc beaches while also pointing to landmarks including the Dragon Bridge and the Museum of Cham Sculpture. These attractions showcase the city’s combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Tourism officials say the ranking reinforces Da Nang’s growing reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s leading leisure and resort destinations.
Da Nang Tourism Benefits from Strong Visitor Growth
The city has already recorded strong tourism numbers in 2026.
Authorities reported that Da Nang welcomed more than 1.46 million visitors during the recent holiday period covering Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day, and International Labour Day celebrations. That figure represented an increase of more than 35 percent compared to the same period last year.
Officials credited the growth to cultural festivals, sporting events, tourism promotions, and expanded travel services across the city.
Beaches and Culture Drive Visitor Demand
Da Nang’s popularity has grown steadily thanks to its mix of beach tourism, outdoor recreation, cuisine, and cultural experiences.
The city serves as a gateway to several major attractions in central Vietnam while also offering modern hotels, entertainment facilities, and transport infrastructure.
Industry analysts say international recognition from major travel brands such as Lonely Planet could help attract more visitors from markets including Australia and other Asia-Pacific countries.
Da Nang Tourism Targets 20 Million Visitors
Local authorities expect tourism momentum to continue throughout the year.
Nguyen Thi Hoai An, deputy director of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Da Nang aims to welcome nearly 20 million domestic and international tourists in 2026.
Officials believe the city’s expanding tourism sector will continue strengthening its role as one of Vietnam’s most dynamic travel destinations.
Analysts also note that Southeast Asian tourism markets are seeing strong recovery as international travel demand continues rising across the region.
